Gum arabic (E 414) is the sap of an African acacia. It contains far branched carbohydrate chains that identify a low thickening effect in combination with liquids. Gum Arabic is a food additive, which is sometimes used as a stabilizer, filler, excipient and as a thickener. It is generally approved for food and can be found for example in confectionery, beer, cake glaze, cream stabilizer and powdered drink again.
